Developments in Building Acquisitions / Renovation
The Latino Museum is committed to building
a broader understanding of the rich history of Latino art and to increasing
public awareness to outstanding works of contemporary Latino artists. Through
our Guide to Los Angeles Cultural Institutions & Events,
we want to encourage young people to develop their sensitivity to art in all its forms
and to pursue their creative aspirations.
RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN BUILDING ACQUISITION !!
After about a year and a half, the City of Los Angeles awarded to the Latino Theater Company and the Latino Museum the lease for the old Los Angeles Theater Center in downtown Los Angeles. Using a grant from the California Cultural and Historic Endowment (CCHE) to renovate and upgrade the building, the old Theater Center will now house a museum and a theater with new and exciting programming. This effort will add to the revitalization of the Downtown Historic District and at the same time become a cultural center, the first and only one of its kind in Los Angeles, and certainly the only one with a Latino emphasis in the United States.
